Last Friday vs. Next FridayBy The Hillbilly Dude | Published Y’all ever try to make plans with hillbillies and get tangled up over which Friday somebody’s talkin’ about? You ain't alone. Because "last Friday," "this past Friday," "this coming Friday," and "next Friday" all have distinct meanings that don’t always match up with what unhillbillies know to be true. In the South, "this Friday" or "this coming Friday" means the one comin’ up. This week. "Next Friday" means the one after THIS Friday - a whole week later. And "last Friday" - you mean yesterday? That's "this past Friday." Last Friday was more than a week ago. Sounds simple enough, but it’ll flat-out bumfuzzle some plans if you ain’t careful. Here's a quick chart for reference:
